Love's Brief Candle
This poem is adapted from Life's Brief Candle, written by William Shakespeare.
To-morrow, and to-morrow, and to-morrow,
Creeps in this pretty face from yesterday
To the last bit of recorded message,
And all our yesterdays have broken hearts
The way to the marriage altar. Out, out, promise rings!
Life's but an infinite conquest, as a playboy,
That seduces and humps his target upon the bed,
And then fucks no more; it is a warning
Told by an angry mob, full of sound and fury,
Signifying monogamy
To-morrow, and to-morrow, and to-morrow,
Creeps in this pretty face from yesterday
To the last bit of recorded message,
And all our yesterdays have broken hearts
The way to the marriage altar. Out, out, promise rings!
Life's but an infinite conquest, as a playboy,
That seduces and humps his target upon the bed,
And then fucks no more; it is a warning
Told by an angry mob, full of sound and fury,
Signifying monogamy
