Literature's Traitor

Literature was on a quest.
Literature has a purpose in life.
But alas;
Dreams and hopes crushed.

A traitor exists.
Someone whom Literature trusts.
Literature was spreading knowledge;
Until the traitor's strike.

It was a fine day like any other,
But it isn't.
It is the day the traitor, Mr. Publisher,
Strikes!

Literature was shocked when he found out!
Why? I trusted you!
Because my keen business sense tells me so, answers Mr. Publisher.
Literature wept and wept, never to write nor trust again.

And so the dream of common knowledge has ended.
Nobody was left to continue Literature's work.
Mr. Publisher was extra careful about that.
Literature died as a broken man.

So it is said until now,
Why the common man is dumber.
