SPECIAL FEATURE: Sylvie, the Rising Star!

Welcome back to my gossip column! Today we are featuring the latest talk of the town, an adventurer by the name of Sylvie. She is a very pretty halfling wizard that can turn heads (make men stare or snap your neck). Her name has already been whispered many times in Linoit taverns and her latest achievement sealed her spot as the Rising Star!

I tried to interview her personally for this article but her fan club keep stopping me before I could get near. Screams of "PROTECT SYLVIE!" still rings in my ears today. What exactly were they protecting her from? That is another juicy topic for another time. Since I can't verify a huge amount of the info in this article, please treat all of this as folk lore or tavern gossip.

I failed to interview Sylvie but I did managed to interview the milder members of her rapidly growing fan club (Seriously speaking, her fan club is the scariest experience I had in my long years of interviewing celebrities. Even if we include that Demon Prince interview back then).

The always ignored member of her fan club, Edani, is a very interesting elf woman. She likes to speak in riddles. For example, when I asked her about the Heart of Winter incident, she replied: "Dragon cards, games hurts, maze-ful misery, balled detectives, all in the family, Winter Guards." I tried to make her explain more but all I understood is that there were many things Sylvie fought and each victory made her stronger. Elves, especially very pretty female Elves, are generally hard to deal with.

The motor-mouth member of her fan club, Ristoria, talks way faster than her small gnome body seem possible. I have to make her stop talking mid-interview many times by feeding her food (There goes this month's rent money, sigh.) It would be a horrible nightmare to tell you everything she told me since I used up 3 notebooks for her ALONE! So, I am going to summarize as much as I can: There exists a huge gang called Jerry Gang and they are all named Jerry numerically. Like Jerry 1, Jerry 2, Jerry 3, and so on. There are a total of 777 Jerrys, each a specialist in a particular field. One day, Sylvie heard the Jerry Gang has a huge and important meeting in their H.Q. with compulsory attendance. She just flew on top of the building with her broom and dropped a FORTRESS on top of it! Everybody died in an instant! Claiming all their bounty took weeks! (I never want to hear the word Jerry ever again in my life.)

The tough-looking muscle of her fan club, Drosh (fake name being used here at his request), seems very nervous during the interview despite being a Dragonborn ex-soldier. He keeps glancing over his shoulders and jumps at any loud noises. I wanted to ask him if there are any assassins after his life as a joke but I saw how red his eyeballs are. This is his story: Drosh, formerly of the IIvarisque guild guards, became a Sylvie fan after hearing her contributions to the Guild. Her meteoric rise in Guild rankings was never heard of before. Some even said that nobody was surprised when the Guildmaster himself went to Copper Flagon Inn to invite Sylvie in. Drosh bolted from the interview suddenly when a random bird landed on our table (we were eating outside) right after he told me that. I am still trying to contact him now.

The mysterious member of the fan club, Fiona, came to see me completely cloaked. Even her face! She did not speak, instead chose to write out all her replies in mid-air with magic (Still a better interview than Edani). She told me the epic battles Sylvie fought against difficult monsters like the Colossus (a monster as big as a mountain) or the Chimera (a beast that is mixed between a bulette, a rust monster, a scorpion, and a dragon). Some battles lasted for days! Every spell was used, every rare magical item activated. Sylvie and her enemies were evenly matched but alas, she has strong friends on her side against lonely beasts. Friendship won the day!

That is all the information that I can gather this time, folks! If you wish to tell me more information, you can find me at my desk in Daily Puzzle magazine office, 43, Bookmen Street, Linoit. I look forward to the day I get to call Sylvie "Linoit's Hero!"
